Welcome to Oak's web page.

We have an incredibly exciting year ahead of us and will be working exceptionally hard throughout all of our themes!

Our themes for 2017-2018 will be:

· Yes Minister – understanding how the UK is governed and how this has evolved through history

· Rule Britannia – exploring the life of Vikings

· Wild Water – understanding how rivers are formed and have developed over time

To view a more detailed breakdown for these themes, please click on the class curriculum trees.

Children will need to have their PE kits on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They will need their Forest School kit on Tuesday during the Summer Term. Homework and spellings will be set on Friday and handed in the following Thursday.

What can you do to support your child?

All children should read for 30 minutes every day - this will be recorded and rewarded for our in-class reading competition.

Times tables also need to be revised to ensure that maths recall is finger-tip quick. Children can continue to progress through their Total Recall badges to ensure that these skills continue to be embedded.

Here are some useful websites to support your child with their home learning:

There are also many apps that we use to enhance the learning experience of the children, below is a list of some of the apps we use regularly in class.

Morfo: bringing to life characters both fictional and historical
Puppet Pals: Creating scenes and scenarios to support children's understanding of historical events
Aurasma: linking videos and pictures to 'tags' in the children's theme books
iMovies: Creating and editing movies and clips to record and document their learning
